Robert began riding at the age of 14, racing motocross and refining his skills off-road before taking his love of motorcycles to the street.

He purchased his first Big Twin Harley-Davidson (a 1967 FLH) in 1972 and began cross-country travel and two-wheel explorations. Half a century old, that Shovelhead still resides in his shop and currently has accumulated more than 325,000 miles on the clock.

 

Robert contributed to several outdoor magazines in his early years and worked as a staff reporter and photographer for Texas Biker News before starting as a freelance contributor for Thunder Press magazine in 1998. Soon he was given a monthly column and the title of Southern Bureau Chief for Thunder Press. He took over the reins as South Editor beginning in 2004, directing the course and substance of that edition while maintaining a stable of contributors until the end of 2016. 

 

With a background in industrial design, mechanical engineering, quality control and technical writing combined with years of motorcycle product installations and reviews, multiple riding evaluations of newly released production bikes by major manufacturers, vast experience with motorcycle rallies, an extensive network of industry associates and a passion for travel, Robert brings years of experience and professionalism to 2 Wheel Media.
